Our Services
Veterinary Services
Carriacou Animal Hospital is a charity where university qualified veterinarians and vet nurses from all over the world volunteer their time and skills to Carriacou's pets. At our clinic, veterinary professionals offer general veterinary and emergency care as well as routine surgeries for dogs, cats and other pets.
Preventative Medicine
Parasites like ticks, fleas, heartworms and more are the underlying causes of the most common pet diseases in Carriacou. Although best intentions at heart, improper remedies are often applied, and cause more harm than good. We provide appropriate preventative medicines that are safe for dogs and cats and key to keeping them healthy. They are widely distributed and mostly given out for free.
Spay & Neuter Program
Our program offers spay and neuter surgeries for dogs and cats at a nominal fee or for free. It is important for keeping the population controlled, healthy and strong, and promotes overall a better health status and life expectancy for dogs and cats. It prevents dogs and cats from straying and getting into fights and vehicle accidents. Spaying and neutering also prevents unwanted and uncared for puppies and kittens.
Community Outreach
Our veterinary team drives out once a week to visit patients and their owners in their homes and also treat other pets along the way. Whenever the necessary resources are available, we reach out into the more remote villages of Carriacou to give out preventative health care as well as basic education on the most important health issues in pets and how to stay clear of them.
Pet Owner Education
Sharing knowledge and educating owners about general health care for pets, the most common diseases and how they are best prevented, is one of our main goals and keeps the pet population healthier in the long run. Whether we're meeting present or future pet owners in the clinic and out in the communities, or we give a talk to school classes, we never tire to promote pet welfare and responsible pet ownership. Even more shared knowledge can be found in our blog!
Rehoming Assistance
We are a veterinary clinic, not a shelter, and therefore generally can't take unwanted dogs or cats in. However, we understand that sometimes someone needs to rehome their pet or has a litter of puppies that struggle to find new homes. We can assist by publishing pets that are looking for a home and connecting people who want a pet with the people who have one that they need to rehome. You can find a list of dogs in need of a home right here.
