Get to know us.
We started with a little dog named Kitty and a big dream. In 2003, our founder, Katherine Nowell, rescued a sick puppy tied to the shoreline of Carriacou. That moment sparked the realization that Grenada's sister islands desperately needed veterinary care. What began as outreach clinics organized with the help of the Grenada SPCA, then grew into Carriacou Animal Hospital, an independent non-profit founded in 2013. Since then, we've been dedicated to providing accessible veterinary services, promoting animal welfare, and making a lasting difference for companion animals and their people on Carriacou and Petite Martinique. Carriacou Animal Hospital is a complete non-profit company, entirely run by 100% volunteering professionals donating their time and skills to the community.

Our mission.
Our mission at Carriacou Animal Hospital is to provide compassionate, accessible veterinary care, promote animal welfare, and empower the community through education. By delivering essential veterinary services and preventative care, we aim to create a healthier, happier future for Carriacou’s companion animals and the people who love them.
Our vision
We strive for a healthy, cared-for, and valued dog and cat population in Carriacou and Petite Martinique — a community where veterinary care, education, and compassion come together to improve the lives of pets and the people who love them..

Our goals.
1️⃣ Accessible Veterinary Care – Providing affordable, professional veterinary and emergency treatment, along with routine surgeries for dogs, cats, and other pet
2️⃣ Preventative Medicine – Many pet diseases in Carriacou come from parasites like ticks, fleas, and heartworms. Unsafe treatments often cause harm, so we provide safe, effective preventatives — free or low cost.
3️⃣ Population Control – Reducing the number of stray and unwanted animals through free and low-cost spay & neuter programs.
4️⃣ Education & Awareness – Educating pet owners and future generations is key to animal welfare. Through school programs, clinic visits, and outreach, we promote responsible pet ownership, care, and disease prevention.
5️⃣ Community Outreach – Our team travels to communities —especially remote areas of Carriacou and Petite Martinique — to provide vet care, preventatives, and education, ensuring essential resources reach those in need.
