The heart and soul of our charity is an amazing team of dedicated volunteers. Every year 50+ volunteers visit us at Carriacou Animal Hospital and donate their valuable time and skills. Whether veterinarians, vet nurses & vet techs, dog walkers or foster carers - they all make huge difference in our work and the lives of Carriacou's dogs and cats.
But they are not the only ones! Not only veterinary professionals, but many more people can donate their skills and by doing so, give us tremendous support every year! Keep on reading to find out more about our volunteer positions and how to join the team.

What we can offer
A working holiday on an unspoiled Caribbean island
When volunteering with Carriacou Animal Hospital you are looking at a 50% work and 50% fun experience. Even though our work load is not so predictable, we will make sure that you have lots of free time to explore Carriacou's beauty and its surrounding islands.
Beachside accommodation at the clinic
We provide our volunteers with free accommodation on the clinic premises, which are a few walking minutes outside of main town Hillsborough and right across from the beach. Yes, offer WiFi, also. 😉
Organized Day Trips on Land and Sea
During your stay with us, you'll have plenty of opportunities to explore your surroundings and experience the local culture. We organize trips to the home of the sea turtles on Saline island as well as other local islands and beaches, guide you on serene hikes and send you off an a snorkeling or diving adventure.
What you can offer
Qualified veterinarian or vet nurse
Ideally, we prefer our volunteers to be qualified veterinarians and vet nurses or vet techs, who are experienced with routine medical care and surgeries.
2 week minimum commitment
We require our volunteers to make a commitment of a two week minimum, although some stay much longer. The vast majority of our volunteers end up that the 2 weeks were too short and the time just flew by.
Team Player
One of the requirements that all volunteers should have, is team spirit. We expect everyone - regardless of their title and qualification - to pitch in and help each other with clinic chores, patient care and customer service and education, whenever needed and within your skill set.

You are not a vet or a vet nurse, but would still like to volunteer your skills? - Brilliant!
There are many other helpful skills that we need at Carriacou Animal Hospital. Whether you are on island or far away, we might have a task for you that just fits your bill!
Volunteers wanted On Island
Doggie Happiness Officers
Our clinic dogs and inpatient always welcome a change of scenery. To keep them happy and their life well balanced, we aim to offer them regular walks and exercise. If you are a dog lover and would help with their exercise and training, please reach out to us!
Foster Carer
Take your volunteering to the next level, help a pet in need and open your home to a dog who is needing some extra TLC. Make a real difference to a dog by offering it a stable and loving environment. You will be providing care for them until they find their forever home. Head over here to find out about our dogs in need.
Handymen or -women
There is always something at our clinic that needs fixing or improving and expert help is valuable. Whether you are a gardener, carpenter, painter, tiler, electrician, etc. make sure to stop by, we might just have the job for you to donate your skills!
Photographers
Amazing shots make all the difference! If you are an animal lover and have a passion for photography, we'd like to invite you to help us help animals with fresh and astonishing views of our dogs, our clinic life and our wonderful surroundings in Carriacou. These pictures will help us with future marketing on our website and on social media.

Fundraisers
It is a reality that every charity needs funds to be able to help and do all the amazing things for animals in need. Raise money for charity and support us in helping sick or neglected animals. Face the challenge of a sponsored activity. Set up a collection box in your business. Organize a tea party, bake sale, crafts sale... Or help establish a corporate sponsorship of medications! The sky is the limit!
Graphic Designers & Printers
You are a skilled graphic designer? We need you! A couple of commited graphic designers are still missing in our valued team of volunteers! Whether you can help us design incredible valuable infographics for our handouts to clients and reports to our supporters or if you are a talented T-Shirt designer, your help would be much appreciated! Or do you own printing business all together? Donate some prints!
Social Media Influencers
We are always looking for key people and influencers on social media who can help us spread the word. You maybe ingrained in the local community or Caribbean based and can help us spread awareness on important health topics. Or you may be able to help us reach potential supporters, donors and future volunteers internationally. Let us know, if we can count on you to further our agenda!
